Thieves strike on my mooring - Hunts lock mooring up for auction

Just really annoying that I now cannot trust our moorings. I kept two jerry cans at the back of my wooden locker, they were empty but I use them over winter to keep the tank topped up. Last time I mowed the grass they were there today gone. It really makes me sad that even in the community boaters and more frustratingly those who moor with me at Hunts someone thinks it is ok steal someone else's stuff.

I will give stuff away, I have done and I'd go out of my way to help someone if they needed it. I hope whoever took them gets benefit from their dishonesty and in those quiet period of reflection feels a little remorseful.

That and the constant mowing of grass is making me think of marina moorings. For security and also the lack of maintainence. I cannot trust BW now CaRT not to damage my boat with their so called maintainence not even rings at Hunts and they are asking for £1700 for a auctioned mooring at the moment.  If you are bidding think again, no maintainence and the risk to your property does not make it a good offer.

Down in the dumps today on boating for sure.......

So sorry to hear that there are scum in your area... it's shameful. I hope they get their comeuppance soon!!

Nev,

Sad to hear your story - shameful. We are only 'up the road' at Kings Bromley marina and for the extra we pay per year compared to you at the moment, we feel it's more than worth it. We certainly sleep easy at night. Like you we flit to and fro from the boat from Derby. It's secure, folks about all day and the community is second to none. All facilities on site. It's certainly worth thinking about.

Thanks gents for your replies.... Kings Bromley is one of three we would consider if we moved. The other two being Great Heywood and Aston. I see Pat and Darrel are moving on.... Does this herald big changes, did they have a hand in their back or on to better things?

Pat & Darrell retired and moved up to Scotland almost a year ago now. To be honest, the marina is managed pretty well in our opinion. No big changes - a few small ones for the better and they are always looking to improve. We honestly can't fault it.

Hi Nev

Sorry you've been got at, what a nasty thing to happen, especially as you say, it must be a boater almost certainly.

We were just chatting on the towpath last night about the increasing problem of theft on the cut; I guess the community is now so large we're bound to have some scrotes amongst us.

Hope you find a better mooring - all of the ones you mention look good.

Meanwhile, go boating!

Cheers

Sheila reminds me to say, watch out for the connection charge at Aston if you want shoreline power.

So today is another day. Awake early to drive Rachel back to work and the mooring was as we enjoy it quiet sunny and tranquil. It is starti g to get busy but that is the attraction some reverse gongoozling I'll keep my options open as well as my mind, thanks for the comments

Sorry you are having a bad day Nev. It always sucks when human nature lets us down.

We have two of those metal jerry cans for the same use. They are impossible to buy in the States--only plastic is available.

May you find peace of mind and heart this week as you engage in reverse gongoozling. My thoughts are with you.

Jaq,

Thank you for taking time to give such positive comments, you are worth a million of the people who seem to derive self progression on the backs of others. I like our mooring and there are lots of great and honest people who moor their boats there. Hope to meet you sometime soon,

Nev

Always read the mooring terms and conditions before deciding. 4 years ago Great Haywood had some strange one's like no filling your tank from a can and no burning logs.
